Case Study

UK based provider of innovative freight Case Study

Client

A mid-sized, UK based provider of innovative freight forwarding solutions on air, sea and land.

Location

Multiple sites across the UK, but this particular project was in Stoke-on -Trent

Client Requirements

This was a two phase project where the client had very specific requirements.  In phase one they needed to accommodate 4518 pallets in an empty, purpose built warehouse.  Phase two was to house 5600 more pallets in a busy live working environment.

Our Solution

After completing a full site survey, a number of fully costed design layouts were presented.  All makes of pallet racking were considered to determine the best fit for the client.  Special consideration was given to the type of stock to be stored and the way the client wished to pick and distribute.

Ultimately Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking was chosen and we had six weeks to complete phase one installation and labelling.

For Phase two we again designed our solution around the constraints of the building, the client’s working processes and other trades including the client’s electricians.  A good working relationship was critical to the success of this project and we were able to offer further guidance on topics including building regulations, construction best practice and the operation of VNA racking.

The Result

A large, time critical project delivered on time, to budget with immediate measurable workflow efficiencies.
